If you are using XP Home and have Norton Antivirus software installed, this
is a known issue and something to do with NAV (though exactly what, I have
no idea). If you do not wish to uninstall NAV and use another antivirus
product:
Go into the Control Panel and click on Printers & Faxes, right click on the
printer and select Properties... from the Advanced Tab, in the center of the
screen, set the printer to Print Direct to Printer instead of using the
Print Spooler.
