When I print or shall preview from the web browser I get
an error message; "There is an error in the script on
this page. Would you like to continue run script in this
page?

Anyone who knows?

What is the exact error message?
If there is a Details button click that and give us the first two lines.

I have this problem too. I am running IE6.0 in XP Pro with Service Pack 1
and cannot print from the web browser. File\Print Preview throws up the same
error too.

The script error details in the window that pops up are:
Line: 639
Char: 1
Error: Invalid argument.
Code: 0
URL: res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/preview.dlg

It was suggested I disable 3rd party broswer expensions in Internet
Options\Advanced but this has had no effect.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks. The 2 listed "printing related" items on the link not not say they
are related to IE6 under XP though. Do you think they could still prove
responsible here? I also installed the Scripting update for XP/2000 but no
effect.

Try, in order:

1. (Re-)Installing 5.6 Scripting Engine from
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp

2a. Start>Run>Regsvr32 vbscript.dll

2b. Start>Run>Regsvr32 jscript.dll

[If running WinXP-SP1a, see http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers_9.htm.]

3. Re-register all DLLs listed in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679

4a. IE Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing>Enable third-party browser
extensions (uncheck & reboot).

4b. Find the hijacker that caused 4a to be checked:

Dealing with Hijackware
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/Darnit.htm#tshoot
http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

You *must* seek updates for Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc., before each and every
use, even "right out of the box". But even then, they can't catch
everything. When all else fails, HijackThis
(http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post
your files to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**

As part of the hunt, also update your virus definitions and then run a full
system scan. From now on, do both daily.
