printing large prints

I need to get a printer that will print A3high by double A3 wide and I
am considering the epson R1800 or the canon 9950. I like the look of
the canon and the price of ink but I don't know if it will print this
size paper. Canon are trying to sell me the 5000 printer but that is
£1800 and is beyond my budget. Anyone know if the 995 will print this
size?
Thanks,

The 9950 will print a maximum size paper of 13"by19"

You need to do a bit more research. The Epson R1800 will only print up to13
inches wide. Anything over A3+ Size will cost an arm and a leg.

You need an A2 printer to do this since an A3 printer will only take paper as
wide as the shortest side of A3 (13").

The size I need to print is 297 x 840cm will the 9950 do it if the
paper is manually fed?

Your original post was a bit confusing - it seemed that you wanted to
print at A2 size.
AFAIK, the Canon i9900/9950 isn't set up to do panoramic printing on
roll paper. Perhaps it can be "hacked" to allow it.
The R1800 comes with a roll paper holder, and will print maximum 329mm
width (13") on roll or cut paper stock. Should be no problem at 297x840
mm (I assume you do mean mm - not cm as you state).

I agree, the first post was a bit confusing. Technic needs to print 297mm x
840mm. I think this size of paper could be printed from both Canon 9950 and
Epson 1800 printers. Of course the paper should be feed the long way
(meaning 297mm the width, and 840mm the length).

I suspect that the i9950 won't print 840mm length. IIRC drivers won't
allow length longer than about 22 inches or so.

Sorry guy's,
Yes it is millimetres they are architectural prints/drawings the
application software (photoshop) allows the size and I wondered if I
feed the paper in from the 297mm side it will print the 840 length. I
know the R1800 will do it but I am put off by the cost of the inks and
paper. The canon inks are much cheaper -what do you think?

In that case you probably dont need to be printing out inkjet
photographic glossy output, so I would say looks at OKI's LED machines
which can go to a length of about 4 feet.

To say the truth I don't know actually the length each of the above printers
print, I see that my A4 epson c86 can print up to 1120mm (it's about 44
inches).

Has anyone got a 9950 to try printing the above size? I would love the
canon but will it print the large size?

Unfortunately no. The manual says: non-standard paper up to 13x23".
