Daniel

When printing from Excel 2003 on a Windows 2000 PC I get
a situation where the print out never appears. I can
click on print in Excel but the job never makes it to the
printer. The only way I can get it to print properly is
to delete the printer and re-install it. However this
happens on many machines randomly and repetitively. Prior
to re-installing I notice that when the jobs shows as a
dialog box that says it is printing to a printer that is
listed with some gobbledygook at the end of the printer
name i.e. boxes and other weird characters. If I try to
print the same on a Win XP pc I have no problems.

Hi Daniel...........

It sounds like a printer-driver or a network issue to me...........could be
that your MIS is doing "maintenance work" on the servers, and/or that you
don't have the proper printer driver installed..........FYI, Win2k and WinXP
use different drivers in many cases for the same periphials.........check
and be sure you have the right one for your OS..........
What I do when I have printing problems is bring up the Printer dialog box
to show the print queue..........then I watch as I hit the print command and
a line of info should appear there, and then be fed to the printer......it
helps me to see what is going on.........
