Printing from XP to ME shared printer

Shared HP 1300 on an WinME pc. The XP machine sees the
printer but the test page will not print. Get the message
"Test page failed to print. Would you like to view the
print troubleshooter? Unable to create print job"
Of couse, the troubleshooter is useless.
