printing from vista to a network printer on xp

I connected a vista laptop to a home network and am trying to print to the
printer connected to a xp computer. It prints ok with to test print page
after installing the printer (brother hl-1440 laser) But when trying to print
out anything from a website the characters are all garbled like it does not
understand all the print commands.

Does anyone have any info on how to fix this?
