Printing from DOS program very slow

Have a couple Win XP Pro units on a peer-to-peer network. One PC has a laser
attached and shared. The 2nd PC prints from Windows to this device and
prints fairly fast. For DOS, I am using the NET USE command to capture the
LPT1 output from the DOS program and send it to the shared printer. The 2nd
PC will print to the shared printer eventually, but it will take 30 seconds
or longer to get the printer to print. Is there any way to speed this up?

Thank you, i will try this out.
