printing errors from word strange characters appearing.

On clicking the print button strange characters are appearing on screen and
the print is then gobbledegook.

Any ideas. It is a brother laser printer connected via USB.
 
Try deleting and reinstalling your printer in Start | Control Panel | Printers.
