Printing delay from Outlook

I recently upgrated to Outlook and find that it takes minutes for the print
menu to come up. I am using Outlook 2007 on XP Professional. I can print
from outside Outlook no problem.

If you open Outlook in safe mode, does this behaviour continue?

Start > Run > outlook.exe /safe

Note that there is a space between outlook.exe and /safe

Thanks for the lead. No it doesn't make any difference when started in 'safe
mode'. The symptom was the same in that having selected file/print it went
off for about 10 minutes before I got the printer menu (copies to print etc)
displayed. It printed that document without further delay. If I select
file/quick print then the page prints immediately.

Rename or delete outcmd.dat and outlprnt files.

I renamed each file outcmdx.dat and outlprntx.doc and attempted to print but
same result.

Sorry, I misled you. It went away as if to wait another 10 minutes but I
never got the print selection screen.

Did you make sure Outlook was closed when you renamed the files?

Thanks for the note. Yes I was sure that Outlook was closed when renaming.
BTW, I have same problem with printing Adobe reader 9.1.3.
