Printers and speakers don't work

Hello. I am having a problem with my Windows XP. The speakers don't work
(and I have tried numerous sets of new ones). Also, a couple of my printers
don't work and yet a couple do. Any suggestions??? I have tried
re-installing the printer drivers but I receive the message that they cannot
be installed. I am unable to find my Windows XP installation CD. Thank you
for any help you can give me.

Brenda, what are the make and model numbers of the printers you are
trying to install? Speakers won't work if you don't
have any sound. Go to Control Panel>Sound and Audio Devices>Sound
Tab>Make sure that the Mute Box is not checked and click on Advanced and
look for Sliders up at least half way and no Mute boxes are check there.
Click on Speaker Volume and check for Sliders at least half way.

Thanks for your help. Both printers worked previously then all of a sudden
stopped working with this computer, although they work fine on others. One
is a Lexmark all in one with the photo card reader (the card reader does
work) and the other s a Dymo Labelwriter. That's why I'm wondering if
there's a problem with the printer drivers. I have re-installed the
manufacturer's drivers a number of times with no success.

I have checked the volume levels, etc, for the speakers. In control panel,
it shows that no speakers are installed, even though they are.

I really do appreciate any help.

The LabelWriter CD has a utilities folder on it with a program called
"LWREMOVE" it does a good job of cleaning up the registry when things
go wrong. Disconnect your LabelWriter and then run the program and see
if that helps.
