printer unexpectedly runs and delivers a blank page

I have a compaq presario running XP home. My printer is a deskjet 960c.
Several times during the day, for no apparent reason, I will hear the printer
start and will observe that it is delivering a blank page to its outbox. This
has been going on for weeks and it is driving me nuts. Every evening, there
are about 8 blank pages in the out-tray, even when no one has been home.
I assume that this is a software issue. Does anyone know how to help?

I HAD the same printer and finally trashed it. It wouldn't pick up paper
sheets and sometimes would pick up more than one. So, I have ONE large #23
and TWO #45's that I'll sell to you, cheap, if you're interested. I've
already thrown that printer away and bought a an HP 6210 all in one. It's
sweet. Let me know if you have interest in the cartriges.

Try http://www.hp.com
Go to Support and search for your model.
Check out "Paper Eject" issues.
Also, there is a recall on this printer. Details can be found here:

Thanks Sharon. I didn't even know about the recall. It turns out that it
doesn't apply to me. The HP website was no help. There was no reference to
"paper eject" issues. HP Support does not offer an email option, so when I
called the support group to see if this was kind of a generic problem that
they could solve easily, they notified me that because the product was out of
warrantee, they would only talk to me if I agreed to the Paid support option.
I demurred. Thanks again for trying to help me with my problem.

You're welcome, Jay. Sorry the suggestion wasn't much help. Spontaneous
paper ejection is an odd problem. One thing you might try is reinstalling
the printer driver. Or if HP has an updated driver for the printer, give it
a try.

Not necessarily a software issue. Check for proper grounding. Plug printer
into another outlet.
