Our office notified your company of a problem that has
occurred after installing Windows XP and working with
Excel and trying to print a document using custom size
paper (11 by 12.65) from a HP Laserjet 5 si. The pages
print, however you have to use a 5.75 inch left margin in
order for the page to print correctly. The machine is
recognizing 11x17 since there is no custom feature that
we used before we changed systems.
We were told this was not a software issue and that our
printer was probably the problem. We tried different
printer drivers; however everything failed to work.
I contacted HP this morning and even though they do not
support that machine or software to it; such as Windows
drivers, the machine is not the problem. This printer
prints documents from various software installed and no
other problems have occurred except printing sheets of
custom size paper.
Before switching to Windows XP we had Windows 98 and our
print driver was laserjet 5si (PCL5e). What driver is
out there that would be compatible to use????????? There
should not be a need to purchase a new printer.
