printer sharing xp SP2 and 2K

I've got two PC's : Win2K sp4 and WinXP sp2 linked using a linksys wireless
router, and I can't get the XP machine to connect to a shared printer on the
2k machine.

The 2k machine can ping the xp machine, and it sees it in the Windows
network neighbourhood (albeit when I try to access it through network
neighbourhood it tells me that the path is incorrect).

The xp machine times out when trying to ping to the 2k machine, and it does
not see the workgroup (mshome) at all.

Here's what I have done: disabled windows xp fiewall and mcaffee firewall.

I know the naming service must work because when I pinging I also ping using
netbios names and it resolves the right address, but it times out none the
less.

Is there a possibilty that a part of the macafee firewall service is still
running even though I have disabled it through the Mcafee control panel?

Thanks for any comments.

Yes, this kind of software is notorious for not being fully disabled.
Uninstall it - use the McAfee uninstaller if possible.

Yes, as Doug already stated, and I think he's absolutely
correct.
