Can anyone help out there??
I have 2 machines - xp home (unfortunately) and win2k, and are trying
to network these together with a switch as i plan to add another PC v
soon. The Xp machine has static ip of 192.168.1.1 and subnet
255.255.255.0. the win 2k has same subnet with IP of 192.168.1.2. XP
firewall has been disabled and netbios enabled on both machines. Both
machines are on the same workgroup called home and have file and print
share enabled. The big BUT is that the XP cannot ping the win2k and
doesnt register its presence at all, but the win2k CAN ping the xp
machine, but not see it in network neighbourhood. I can access the
shared files on the XP machine by using the run command \\192.168.1.1.
The big question is, how can I get these 2 machines to talk properly
to each other????
