Printer Sharing (XP & 2000)

I have a home network with a printer (HP LaserJet IIIp) attached to a
desktop running Windows 2000 and want to access that printer from a laptop
running XP. As I understand it, the laptop has to have a printer driver
installed on it. Do I have to have an XP version of the printer driver
installed on the laptop or a Win 2000 version of the printer installed on
the laptop?

Thanks.

I suggest you make sure the machines are set to the same workgroup, that
2000 allows the printer to be shared, plug the laptop in and try printing.
The driver install should go automatically if everything else is correct (I
think) :)

If for anyreason that fails check the HP website to see if there's a more
recent driver for both . I have a Laserjet and they seem pretty good
driver-wise with mixed systems.
