Printer Quit Working

My Lexmark Printer quit working the other day and I
figured that the USB cable had worked loose but I checked
the cables and everything is ok. I tried to reinstall
the printer using the Printer installation wizard but it
wouldn't even start. So I tried to reinstall the
software from the CD it started but then a message popped
up saying that the print spooler needed to be restarted
click yes to restart and continue Installation so I did
and the installation just quit. So I tried to manually
start the Spooler by going to contol panel,
Administrative tools, Services and Manually restart the
Spooler but that won't allow me to start it either. Can
anyone please explain to me how I can get my Printer to
operate again. I thank you for your time and Effort

It's a Lexmark. Disconnect the printer from the PC. Follow Bruce
Sanderson's instructions.... and pay very careful attention to the final
section of the page on Lexmark units.

After the cleanup, reboot. Download a new set of the drivers from the
Lexmark website at www.lexmark.com. Install the software. Do NOT reconnect
the printer until the software tells you to do so.
