Printer Queue Problem

I can't purge a document from my printer queue no matter what I do, and
it seems to be blocking anything else from printing. I badly need to
get my printer working.

I have a W XP desktop and a MAC iBook notebook networked together.
I've not been able print directly from the iBook to the HP 3845 Deskjet
directly connected to the desktop (my only printer) since setting up
the network a couple of months ago. Have had to copy docs over to the
desktop and then print them.

I decided to try to solve this problem. I've had no success, and now I
CAN'T PRINT AT ALL.

The iBook doc I tried to print from the iBook over the network got
entered in the printer queue. When it didn't print, I canceled it.
It's listed as being deleted but never goes away permanently.

Stopping the Print spooler and restarting and rebooting removes it from
view, but when i try to print something else, it's there again first on
the list, blocking the new docs from printing. I've fooled with print
spool settings, etc.

The iBook is not the problem. I have the network shut off.

I'd appreciate a suggestion on how to permanently remove this albatross
from my W XP print queue.

Thanks.

If you reboot and it removes it from the list and gets added back in
when you are trying to print another job, then I would guess it's still
in the printers memory. Have you tried rebooting the printer?

Try going to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services. Find the
"Print Spooler" service, right click on it and choose "Restart". This
should clear everything from the print queue.

Jay,

I've turned it off and on several times and I turned it off during a
reboot a few minutes ago.

I just tried to delete the printer (as suggested for a similar posted
problem), and WXP can't complete doing that. There is a status message
"Deleting Documents: 1" In other words, the same doc is in the way of
deleting as it has been in the way of printing other docs.

So, i tried turning the printer off and rebooting. No effect.

Thanks.

Gar
