Clogged Printer Queue

I can't purge a document from my printer queue no matter what I do, and
it seems to be blocking anything else from printing. I badly need to
get my printer working.

I have a W XP desktop and a MAC iBook notebook networked together.
I've not been able print directly from the iBook to the HP 3845 Deskjet
directly connected to the desktop (my only printer) since setting up
the network a couple of months ago. Have had to copy docs over to the
desktop and then print them.

I decided to try to solve this problem. I've had no success, and now I
CAN'T PRINT AT ALL.

The iBook doc I tried to print from the iBook over the network got
entered in the printer queue. When it didn't print, I canceled it.
It's listed as being deleted but never goes away permanently.

Stopping the Print spooler and restarting and rebooting removes it from
view, but when i try to print something else, it's there again first on
the list, blocking the new docs from printing. I've fooled with print
spool settings, etc.

The iBook is not the problem. I have the network shut off.

I'd appreciate a suggestion on how to permanently remove this albatross
from my W XP print queue.

Thanks.

I should add, I've checked and I have the latest driver for the HP 3845
Deskjet.

Dear Cori,

There shouldn't be any "old (incompatible with XP) " drivers. My HP
desktop system is 3 years old and had XP when I bought it. I recently
reloaded everything after a crash, using an Install disk supplied by
HP.

So there are no drivers that I've installed except the specific XP
driver for the HP 3845.

Thanks for your suggestion. I've visited the sites and noted it and
will try it if necessary.

By the way, I tried to delete the printer and the rogue doc is blocking
that also. So I'm currently in printer never never land.

Yes, I did, many times, to no avail.

I bought a solution from Experts Exchange. It involved deleting files
from a /system32/ directory.
