Sharing a printer on Windows 2000 Pro. It is a Xerox Workcenter 385,
connecting to the parallel port. Added a laptop to the network, running
Windows XP. I added the shared network printer to the laptop, but when I
check the ports, it is connecting on LPT1, not the network port,
consequently, cannot print.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Thank you for your help in advance!!

WinXP does that. It will show printing to LPT1, even
though the port is on another PC.

I've had similiar issues working in a workgroup. Every
person printing to the share had to have a local username
and password on the PC where the printer hangs off. Else
the printjob will go into the queue and dissapear. Same
when the user changes their password on their own machine.
