Printer monitoring software

Many years ago I used to get audio alerts telling me if my printer had run
out of paper or there was a paper jam etc. This was very useful if I was
away from the printer but in the same room. It was also a lot better than
trying to work out odd error codes.

Many PCs and printers later, this function is no longer available to me.

Does anyone know how I can restore these features?

Thanks Alan,

I don't think I ever owned a Lexmark, Just HP printers.

I wonder if it was a Windows application? If I recall correctly, it also
gave me a graphical display of the printing process.

There might be an application somewhere that does this for HP printers. I
would think that a company as big as HP would have such an application since
it improves the productivity of person using the printer.

Cheers...Tony

This was Lexmark software, it shipped with NT4 but still required a
Lexmark device. If you still have a Lexmark printer look for MarkVision
software at lexmark.com

Nothing that shipped in NT 3.51, NT 4 (other than MarkVision), Win2k, XP or
Server 2003.
