Printer LexmarkX73 not communicating with XP on USB

Driver installed but not being recognised by XP on plug
and play mode. XP keeps labelling printer as Unknown
Device when plug in USB cable connected to printer. Voice
on XP tells of no communication with printer when you try
and print. Needless to say it does not print!
Any advice would be very much appreciated... Thanks

Since it's a Lexmark, follow the instructions at Bruce Sanderson's website
to completely unisntall all drivers:

http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm

Pay particular attention to the special section on Lexmark printers.

Once you've cleaned and rebooted (without the printer being attached)
install the software from the Lexmark website and do NOT connect the printer
until it tells you to do so.
