Printer Installation

I have a Panasonic KX-P4410 LaserPartner printer puschased
on 1993 which emulates a HP LaserJet Series IIP. I am
planning to upgrade my computer system to a gateway 700
model with WindowsXP Home Edition. In talking to Gateway I
have been told that my computer being ancient is not
compatible with WindowsXP HE. However, my daughter who has
WindowsXP HE when I browsed to the control panel then to
printer folder and scrolled through the list of printers
that were checked with the microsoft signature I found the
Panasonic KX-P440 listed as was the HP LaserJet Series
IIP, also with the microsoft signature. From the
explaination provided on that page I took it to mean these
two printers were WindowsXP HE compatible. Am I right or
wrong in my assessment of what I interpeted in WindowsXP
HE. Helpful info is greatly appreciated.

Yes with caution. The printer drivers supplied with Windows XP may not
support all of the printer features. If this is true for your case, check
with Panasonic or HP for a full Windows XP driver.
