Printer doesn't stop printing

Hello,
My problem is my printer keeps printing multiple copies. As
if I set it to X-number of copies. No matter what I print,
even the test page, it prints it over and over and over.

Windows 2000 sp4, network printer using RAW data to a plug
in print server. Another 2000 computer prints fine to it.
Tried uninstalling and deleting the driver and
reinstalling. Tried a different printer that never was
installed before. Binary compared mostly all files
associated to computer that works fine. Can print directly
to printer fine once, but the job doesn't delete from the
spool, so can't print anything else without
stopping/starting spoolsv.exe. Bi-directional check box
does nothing.
In the spool queue, it says printing... Few seconds later
it says printing...restarting. Then back to printing...
All the while its wasting my paper. No errors, messages
nothing. I have the lastest anitvirus.
Have not tried using parallel cable.
Like I said earlier, its as if I told it to print 100
copies of the same thing. Don't know how many it will
print, I have to stop it. Probably go on forever.

Any help at all will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jon

Hi

I have an almost idenical problem

Win 2000 Server spk4 printers setup as local printer and plugged into digi terminal server on the network
More than one and one type of printer has the same problem. Definitely all the slow dot matrix printers
Some 1 page documents print ok
The document I use for testing is 124k (21 A4 pages). In ../WINNT/SYSTEM32/SPOOL/PRINTERS 3 files are created
Lpr999.tmp 124k
00065.SPL 124k
00065.SHD 2k

When printing gets to about page 16 the lpr999.tmp file vanish. When printing is almost completed a new lpr999.tmp file appears with a different time stamp and the same byte count. The print job then restart printing

The .SPL and .SHD files remain for the duration of the time. It is possible to cancel printing of the document
I have disabled real time scanning of the directory by norton anti virus
Properties of the port can not be modified. Data format is raw

Keep printed documents is NOT checked
Hold mismatched documents is NOT checke
Print spooled documents first IS checke
Enable advanced printing features is checke

PrintProcessor = WinPrin
Printer driver = Generic / Text onl

Bi-directional support is gray-ed out and does NOT have a tick in it
Enable Printer pooling is available and does NOT have a tick in it

Have you had any luck with your problem? I would appreciate hearing about your solution if you had found one

Thanks in advanc

Jenn
