Printer connection/installation

After downloading and installing Windows critical update
Service Pack my Lexmark X74 printer ''disappeared'' from
my computer. Messages kept says ''not connected''. It
was, it is, but I can't even re-install it. Tried using
the cd's that came with the printer but no luck and
there's nothing wrong with the cables or connections.
This happened previously when I installed the Service
Pack and I had to ''restore'' my computer to an earlier
date. I'm loathe to do so again as all the messages from
Microsoft say I need this Service Pack. HELP

Uninstall the printer.

It's a Lexmark.......

Follow Bruce Sanderson's instructions to do a COMPLETE uninstall. Pay
particular attention to his special section on Lexmark printers.

Then download the new drivers from the Lexmark website. Install the softare
and ONLY connect the printer to the PC when it tells you to do so.
