Print "Uncontrolled" Watermark

I have searched in this group for how to find a way to print an
"uncontrolled" watermark. I am using Word 2000.

If the users only look at the doc on the screen that's fine, but when
they print it, it needs to have an "uncontrolled" watermark appear on
every page of the doc.

What is the best way to achieve this result?

I appreciate your response.

It is easy enough to do this for yourself, but when other users enter the
equation it is less simple. You would need to use vba to set the print
conditions and/or control the display of the watermark and there is no way
you can force the use of macros. The best suggestion would be to simply add
the watermark and have it always available, as that doesn't need macros, but
you still will not be able to stop users removing it nor printing it without
the watermark.

Thank you for your response. I know how to create a watermark, I just
don't know how to make it appear for printing purposes only.

I figured the easiest way was just to have it there all the time.

Thanks again.

Some printers allow you to set up a watermark in the printer Properties, and
this watermark will not be seen in Word (even in Print Preview), but it will
be printed on *every* document printed from that printer, so that wouldn't
necessarily work. What you could do, however, is create a second instance of
that printer with the watermark set in the Properties and print from that
printer when you wanted the watermark.
