print spooler

Randy

I have a new HP Officejet 7130 All-in-One printer installed. When I am
printing I get the following message: "The service 'print spooler' is
preventing the machine from entering standby. Try stopping the service and
try again." It doesn't seem to interfer with my printing; but the message
keep popping up and can become annoying. What is causing this, and what does
it mean?. When I run Services.msc to turn this service off, I then get the
message that I don't have a printer connected to my PC.

Thanks in advance.

Randy, try going to Control Panel>Power Options>Hibernate Uncheck
Enable hibernation box.

Hi Randy,

This issue may occur if the printer driver is preventing the system from
entering standby.

I suggest you update the printer driver to the latest version and try
again. Also, you may disable standby in the Control Panel>Power Options.

In addition, I suggest you follow the steps below.

1. Stop the Print Spooler service from Computer Management Console
2. Expand the file SPOOLSV.EX_ from the Windows XP CD ROM (/i386 folder) to
c:\windows\system32\SPOOLSV.EXE

Note: I suppose this is a Windows XP system. You may use this command:

expand <cdrom>:\i386 SPOOLSV.EX_ c:\windows\system32\SPOOLSV.EXE

3. Use System Restore to roll the system back to a point before the printer
drivers/applications were installed.

Hope this helps!

Sincerely,
