print spooler

Hi:

I have a Compaq IJ1200 connect to Windows XP SP1 on port USB 001. When I
print a file I do not see the icon on the task bar AND I have no way of
looking into the spooler to kill print jobs.

Second, oddly, in the control panel under printers, when I click ADD PRINTER
nothing happens.

Unplug printer, restart > log in and plug in the printer.

Hi...I should have mentioned that I already tried unplugging, rebooting and
then plugging the printer in again so the software installs. That did not
work. I also moved the cable from USB port 1 to port 2. I've tried
numerous combinations.

I also downloaded a version of software from Compaq for the IJ1200 but they
did not have anything listed for XP so I downloaded the Windows 2000 version
of drivers, knowing that some parts of XP are from 2000.

The printer prints. But, the issue is I do not have access to the spooler
so if someone starts a large job (like I did accidentally the other day) I
can go in and kill it. Also, I don't understand why the ADD PRINTER link
does nothing.
