print spooler will not start

I attempted to install a new printer (lexmark X5150).
Drivers furnished on a CD ROM. Scanner works. Printer
will not work. I get an error message that states print
spooler is stopped. It will not restart. I tried to
reconnect my old printer. Same error message. Print
spooler is stopped. How do I restore the spoolsv.exe?
Can I return to an earlier configuration? I have never
successfully been able to call up last-known-good.

You'll need to do a total unintall of the Lexmark.... see Bruce Sanderson's
article.... and pay particular attention to his special section on Lexmark
printers
