Print Spooler on Windows XP shuts down everytime I restart it

I am running Windows XP Home Edition on a new Dell Computer and am having problems with my Print Spooler.

I have tried to "start" my print spooler, but everytime I start it, a minute or two later it gives me an error message and stops the service again. The error message reads "Spooler Subsytem App has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Since I cannot restart the spooler, I'm guessing that maybe I need to repair/replace either the SPOOLSV.exe file in my Windows/System32 folder or that I need to repair/replace some other Spooler file on the system. Is there anyway to reinstall the spooler files from the original Windows XP reinstallation CD?

Any help you can provide is appreciated. By the way, here are the SpoolSV.exe file details - SpoolSV Version #5.1.2600.0

Thanks,
Ryan

I am having the same problem and have not yet found a solution. It seems to be related to the improper removal of an application that had established some dependencies. My problems began when I ran a Lavasoft Popup Ad removal rountine on my systems. What were the circumstances that caused your print spooler to fail?

I too am having the same problem and I'm wondering if it has something
to do with why I can't seem to install my printer to working online?
I've been trying to solve this problem for days now so if you find a
solution or if anyone does it would very much be appreciated!! I'm
ready to pull my hair out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
