Print spool problem

D

Dan

My printers no longer show up in the control panel. When I try to
reinstall, I get an error message that says "the print spooler service is
not running"

When I try to print, nothing happens.

Restarted the computer several times with no success.

Dan,

I too am having this problem. I have checked the postings here and have
already tried the solutions that have been posted. I can get my print
spooler to start, but any time I try to add a printer, or access the printer
in anyway, it stops. I am unable to reinstall the print drivers and I have
removed them from the control panel. Any help would be welcoms

This "spooler not running" problem has reached Australia. I have an Epson
830 printer and since Sunday I have not been able to use it. I have tried the
fixes suggested by Cari and Ramesh and others but so far with no success.
When I restart the spooler it fails almost immediately with the message
"spooler subsystemapp has encountered a problem" etc. I have run
cleanspl.exe from the Tool Kit but it wouldn't run as the RPC server was
unavailable. I can't remove the printer drivers. I have also tried System
Restore to a date before Sunday but that has no effect. Any help would be
appreciated.
