Basic advice with little information.

Run ethernet cable from the Printer to a switch or hub. Then connect the 4
computers to the switch or hub. Install TCP/IP or NetBEUI and then share
certain folders on each computer.

Connect the printer to the network, then:

1. Set or otherwise determine the IP address of the printer - usually you
can print a
configuration/test page and find it there.

2. Start the Add Printer wizard. Do not select Network Printer - select
Local Printer and clear any check boxes for auto detection.

3. Select Create new port - select Standard TCP/IP port and configure it
with the IP address from #1.

No, any printer with a built-in ethernet adapter automatically shares itself
when connected to the network. It's just a matter of correctly configuring
the 'printer' on the individual machines. It makes little difference
whether you have a workgroup or domain environment unless you want to use a
Windows computer to share the printer. However, this is not necessary with
a built-in ethernet capable printer.
