Is there any way to do a print screen command in Xp?
I don't care if it's convoluted like copying the screen to the NOTEPAD,
etc. and then being able to use the *paste* command to place the screen
image into the desired program?
Did this feature disappear with the end of DOS support?

I appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Is there not a PRINT SCREEN key on your keyboard? Pressing it should write
to the clipboard.

It is the same as it has been for many years in Windows (since Win
95?)
You can't do it in Notepad but try Wordpad or MS Paint or any program
that supports graphics.

PrintScreen copies the whole window to the clipboard.
Alt+PrintScreen copies the active window to the clipboard.
Try Help on "print screen"

Pressing the <PrtScn> key copies the entire display to the
clipboard. Pressing <ALT>+<PrtScn> copies only the active Window to
the clipboard (iow, into RAM). To view the screen capture, open a
graphics program, such as MS Paint, and press <CTRL>+V. This will
paste the contents of the clipboard (your screenshot) into the open
file, and allow you to view it or save it as a file for later use.

Unfortunately the above referenced web article states that it does not
apply to Windows Xp.

No, it just doesn't say it applies to XP (it's an old KB). The procedure
described does work in XP, as you'd find if you searched on "print screen"
in the Help and Support in WindowsXP.

That is incorrect.
It does not state that at all.
It applies to XP as you can find out if you use it or read the Help in
XP.

Yes, it does, but why are you replying to someone who didn't even
mention PrintKey 2000?

....Alan

Sorry Alan - newish here and don't know how to respond to topc.

Havelock

PS for the record that programme won't work on my PC - following taken
from it's software.

"PrintKey 2000 will print screens like the desktop, or the active
window
from any application

PrintKey 2000 will work only in Windows95, Windows98, Windows2000 and
NT4.0"
