print screen with DOS applications

can a dos application be set up to print directly to the
local printer when doing a "print screen"...i am aware
that ctrl-C will paste it to the clipboard and then can
be printed but that's too cumbersome.

operating in win98se the same application has no problem
printing a "print screen" directly to the local printer
