Print screen in XP

I desperately need to be able to use the print screen
function. I have a graphic that is produced from an old
DOS program that I need to save for my PhD thesis. In
Win98 I used to be able to press print screen in DOS and
then paste the graphic off the clipboard back in Windows,
but XP doesn't copy the graphic correctly. Any ideas?
