I am having a similar problem also but when I first go in to my computer
(after shut down). I have to change my default back to the desired printer
to avoid this.

It appears the system (XP) is not saving the default printer when sut down.

Is there a way to resolve this ?

Thanks,

Louis

I am having a similar problem when I first try to print after booting my
laptop.

I have to change the default printer to the desired one but when I shut down
XP, it is not saving the printer as the default.

Any idea as to how to fix this ?

Thanks,

Louis

If Windows is not saving the default printer you will need to ask your
questions in a Windows forum. This one is for Word.
