Hi everyone,

I have a laptop running windows XP Home edition. I also have a desktop
running Windows ME (machine name called 'DUCK', with an HP DeskJet 600c
printer attached to it. I have the labtop and desktop networked together.
However, I can't seem to make it so that the laptop can print using the
desktop attached printer.... on the desktop machine, i have the printer
shared and also have the Client For Microsoft Networks installed. and on
the XP laptop, when I tried to add the HP deskjet 600c printer, the laptop
can see the desktop machine 'DUCK'.... however, it can't see the HP
printer... why is that? can anybody help me on this? any suggestions
would be appreciated!!!

I'm going to get much grief on this one because it's not the right way but
here goes, let's say that "Duck" has an address of 192.168.0.2 and is
sharing a printer with it's share name being "hp600". Start "add a new
printer", when it gets to the network print name, manually enter
\\192.168.0.2\hp600. It should pick up the printer.

You might also try this in "windows explorer". Use \\192.168.0.2 in the
address bar.

HIH,
