print job gets stuck in queue

I've been printing out of Word and Wordpad. After
printing, the job is not cleared from the queue. The
printer then doesn't print until I stop and start the
printer.

The printer uses a USB port. Is there a fix?

My Epson 2200 is on the LPT1, and I have the same issue
especially when printing out of Corel. Hope someone has
an answer.
