When my niece and nephew come to visit, I let them use my PC. I have created
their own Win XP sign on, but in the past they have downloaded various
software while surfing the internet. I want them to freely surf the net, but
I do not want them to download any software. How can I disable downloading in
IE6? Any info would be appreciated.

Make sure you specify their account login credentials to "GUEST" so they wont
be able to install any particular software in your pc without an
administrator login, which in this case is you.

To do this go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/User Accounts/
Go to the specified login then change their account security to GUEST.

GLuck!

A couple of other items. If they are technically savvy, you might want to
password protect the default Administrator account. This is an easy back
door for overriding restrictions.
Also, if you have Imaging software - take an image before their arrival &
restore the PC after they have left. Either way, I would backup my data
before turning them loose on the Net.
Locking down a PC is like a challenge, they'll expend a lot of time/effort
to overcome whatever measures you take.
