Preparing to use backup shadow copy fais

I am using the MS xp backup
When I start I get the message
Preparing to use backup shadow copy

But the backup screen does not progress beyond that point

I did the following followed by a restart but it makes no
difference

Control Panel
Administrative Tools
Services
MS Software Shadow Copy Providor
Set to automatic

Has anyone any ideas please how I can get my backup
working again.

same here - sorry have no solution.
check the event log. i see there LDMS errors - also no solution.
