Preferred font in email messages

Every time I want to send a new email the same font (arial) appears. I can change it to a font of my choice but each time I start a new email this arial appears again. Not one of my favorites so, here is the question. Is it possible to set a different font as default so I don't have to continually go through this. I clicked "format" then "font" and after making my choice, clicked OK. Didn't help. Am I wasting my time trying to do what seems like the impossible?

thanx barman, but that didn't work either. Actually I had tried that first but forgot to mention it. However, following your suggestion I re-checked again and found the font I previous set was still showing. Anyway, tried again, Tools, Options, Compose tab, re-enter my font, check OK and finally apply. My choice of font shows up when I reply to an email but not when composing a new email......reverts back to arial again.

Hello Duck,

in either Windows mail or Windows Live mail you can set your default
font by going to the Tools - options - Compose Tab

Hope this helps

You guys are comparing apples and oranges.
There are three different font settings, don't confuse them:

1. The font selected for an outgoing HTML message.
2. The font selected for the compose screen of an outgoing plain text message.
3. The font selected for reading incoming plain text messages.

I've just changed the font style from Arial to Calibri and it works fine for me; it certainly isn't reverting back to Arial when I open an email or post.
