Have pre-installed xp on donor system, is there anyway to create a back up
disc, that would not require original disc for installation in case of
failure to system?

You can back up whole partition with tools like Norton Ghost or Drive
Backup. Just keep in mind that it will overwrite whole disk then
restoring it back.
