A client of mine had Windows XP on her machine but it was
running very slow - i then put Windows 96 on for her.

She had grown fond of the "Spider Solitaire" game on
Windows XP -- is it in anyway possible to install it on a
windows 98 computer ----- i have the CD of Windows XP.

Thanks,
Conor

No. But I'm sure if you, or she, searched the net you can find 1001
different versions of Spider that would run under 95.

It came in Plus! 98 addon for 98. It only has the hard mode and will cease working about 2030 AD (or will only let you play one unwinnable (according to my mum who played this game for months) game).

There are many ways to improve the performance of XP on older machines.
Under the Performance button in system properties you can turn off some
features you may not need. Under the Displacy control panel, you can choose
what effects XP uses, and by disabling all of these, it will run much
smoother on older machines.

I would not reccommend using 98 over XP.

Spider Solitaire "seemed" to have originated in ME. I have found "other"
versions of the game and I also did get the ME version to work in 98.

BTW: Microsoft never have a 96 version.

Why not? Windows 98 works better with many things that XP chokes on.
Hell for gaming, I boot into my W98SE partition, over running NT5.x.
Windows 98 is a good OS that people will be using long after MS stops
supporting it, especially since it is locked up against the owner of the
copy's will.

With PA, MS has created a demand for people not to use XP.

Expand these three files from X:\I386
(X is CD-ROM drive letter)
SPIDER.EX_ to Spider.exe
SPIDER.CH_ to Spider.chm
SPIDER.HL_ to Spider.hlp
Last two files are Help files.

Put them in any directory (C:\Spider Solitaire will do)
make your own shortcut to Spider.exe.
Doesn't need any installation.

XP kicks windows98 behind left and right.
Take your lame scum agenda somewhere else.
Your of no help, to anyone.
All you want, is all the attention you can get - you live for it, day and
night.

Obviously not. Even the OP client, only wanted spider solitaire from XP.
For me, I would want Clear Type fonts for the desktop, and that's about it.

I believe that all I did was express my person opinion.

No, I'm just no help to MS. I find it personally immoral to volunteer my
time to HELP, and advocate for, a corporate criminal.
All you want, is all the attention you can get - you live for it, day
and night.

If this were true, then why are you paying me attention?
Pathetic individual.

You should use that as your sig. <vbg>
