PRB - display driver

I've had numerous problems with Windows restarting or even
getting it to start when I turn my computer on. On a
couple of occassions over the last couple days I have
received the following error message after the computer
has restarted on its own at least 3 or 4 times:

Computer restarted after an unexpected shutdown Windows
detected a possible device failure.

The driver for the display device was unable to complete
a drawing operation. Please check with the device
manufacturer for a driver update.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem.

Display driver for NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64 seems to be
responsible for the system instability.

I am a newbie to this, can someone provide some pointers
on how to begin correcting this?

Many thanks.

Hello,

This is the wrong newsgroup, you'd have better luck at
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general. I will say however that going to
www.nvidia.com and downloading the newest detonator drivers for your version
of Windows (XP?) and installing them may help. If the card continues to fail
after you install the newest drivers, maybe try the latest directX from
www.microsoft.com/directx, and if that doesn't work try replacing the card
with a new one or borrow one from a buddy. If that doesn't fix it there is a
whole host of settings in the BIOS that could stabilize the system, and it
could always be a bad AGP slot so that's a last resort. HTH,
