PPT show will sometimes not work on laptop- solution?

Bob

I use PPT 97, Win XP Pro on a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop. I have had
several presentations fail to display when plugging the computer in to
different projectors. I now take a CD with me, to burn the presentation on
to it and use the house computer at the places where I am making the
presentation. But how can I ensure that I can use my laptop to show PPT on
any projector? People have suggested it is something to do with screen
resolution and refresh rate on my laptop- is there some kind of optimum
setting I should be using?
I have very little computer technical skill, but I'm pretty good at
remembering instructions :)

Usually, this is not a problem with the projector. Does your laptop have
the second video port enabled?

This is addressed in this FAQ:

Hi Bill and Bob,

there *may* be a problem with the projector, though. At office I use a new
Laptop with 1600x1200 screen resolution, which does not work with older
projectors using 1024x768. (Unless you change screen drivers etc., but I
don't have administrator rights to do this). Only a new (Canon) projector is
capable of displaying my presentations.

Regards,
Ute
