I saved a PowerPoint as a show and uploaded it on my webbsite for people to
download. When the go to the site and hit OPEN it opens as a Powerpoint not
as a slideshow. How do I make it so it opens ONLY as a 97-03 slideshow?
Thanks.

I saved it as a 97-03 .pps even though I have Office 2007 just so people that
do not hav 2007 would not have issues. Its opening as a .pps but not as a
slideshow as it should. Thanks

Care to provide us with a link to your site so we might see for ourselves what is happening?

Michael,

I appreciate your help as I am stuck after a few days of trying to get this
to work. I am using the IExpress infor for imbedding the software with the
pps as found on
http://www.indezine.com/products/powerpoint/pp2003/ppt2exe.html - The
pronblem is when it is booted it opens as a presentation not a slide show.

I can not post the link to my PPS as that would be concidered advertising
and I could lose my license. I emailed you the link (to the email address
under your name) although I think thats not a real address. Hopefull it is.
Thank you.

Thanks. I have it saved as a web page but it does not look as impressive. I
will use that as a backup only.

What I want to have is the IExpress saved version as a slide show so when
people download it they download a self contained slideshow, not a
presentation. Can that be done?

I will try and resave it again and send you the link to the exe fil and
hopefully it will be as a slide show.

If you have an existing website, you could convert the presentations
to a more web friendly format (such as Flash or Windows Media), then
upload it to your website. Converting the presentation offers several
advantages over using a PowerPoint slideshow file:

- Anyone with a web browser can view your content, and wouldn't
necessarily need PowerPoint installed
- It can reduce file sizes considerably, resulting in faster download
times
- Allows you to add audio narrations or video clips more easily

Just something to consider. There are a variety of PowerPoint to
Flash conversion tools available. Try Google. I also make a product
that allows you to do this if you wanted to give it a shot.

Good luck.

Michael,

I have everything working but 1 thing. The compression helped with the html
appearance. It looks great. I still need to give people the opportunity to
download a powerpoint slideshow. Please check your email. Thank you. JJ

I cant assume people will opt to save it as opposed to open the download from
my link. Isnt there a way to have the powerpoint set so its only capable of
opening as a slideshow? Like a pdf can only be opened as pdf and not a word
doc?

I offer a html version for those that do not have PowerPoint but I really
dont want to offer that as the #1 option. That url was sent to your email
address. It just loads too slowly to be impressive and due to the speed of
the load the animations are not smooth nor impressive. Thank a lot.

I dont think was clear. I dont care if they get the option to save or open.
I just want the presentation to ALWAYS open as a slide show and never in
edit mode. When I open ot on any of my 3 machines by hitting open it opens
in edit mode (using the link PPTdownload.html sent to your email before).
How do I ensure it can ONLY be opened as a slideshow? Thanks.

Final question then. If I do convert it, would it keep all the animation and
click on page to move to the next slide characteristcs?

I appreciate all your help and time and thank you very much.

I thank you for your time and help but that is not an answer for me. I am
not sure why there isnt a way for my to lock the presentation to a slide show
so it can not be opened and viewed any other way like a pdf file. I guess I
will keep looking for another solution. Thanks for your help.
