PPT saved as PPS wont open as pps on my website link

I saved a ppt as a pps and uploaded it on my website so that I can send a web
link to clients in an email and not have it take up space as an email
attachment (if I send as an email attachment its almost 10mb which is too
large to be opened). Every time I put it on my website as a pps though it
continues to open as a ppt which defeats the purpose of a client just opening
the link and seeing the show. I saved it as 97=03 PPS thinking most people
would have this as opposed to my 07 version.

Not sure what Im supposed to do at this point to get the link on my site to
open it as a pps.

I have tried saving ppt file as a pps and the newer ppsx formats. when
clicking on file in docs IE says file cannot be found. I have no idea
why this is happening. If i save as a pps, then IE opens it in edit
mode....more like a ppt file. and even though it says its read only, I
can make changes and save to my computer. When opening the file from my
computer, after changes, it opens as a slideshow, with the changes I made.

The pps files opens correctly in firefox..... but gives same error with
the ppsx file..... ugh!!!!

I read on other discussions about converting the pps to a wmv... do I have
to resort to this and if so what program does it (this is the only file i
will EVER need to convert so I dont want to spend big bucks on it)?

Thanks anyone/everyone in advance...

Hi:
Maybe my problem is a little different. When I right-click on my *.pps file
through "Explorer," it comes up as a PowerPoint Show. Also, listening to
answers for other posted questions, I even saved the *.pps file to my
desktop, then updated my hyperlink on our Intranet web page, published it,
accessed the link again and the file still came up in edit mode.

I am at a loss as to what else to do. All we want is to give our employees
access the "show" only and not access to the edit version. HELP!
