PPT: photo inserted as link to a photo file - but now it is gone!

Hello,

I created several slides over the summer with pictures, and because the
photo files were so incredibly large I found that copying and pasting the
actual photo made the .ppt file too large to handle. Therefore I decided to
"link" to the photo file, such that the photo appeared properly in the slide
but the actual photo was not part of the file, but rather remained in its
original folder.

I recently opened these presentations and found to my great dismay that all
of the photos have disappeared and been replaced by placeholder images! Is
there any way at all to retrieve the original link information? I do not
know which photo was in which place and it would be quite difficult to
recreate the proper placement at this point in time.

I assume that at some point I must have moved the file with the photos in
it, which is a shame, but as so many other things on the computer
automatically update as they are moved around I just figured it would be the
same here. Evidently not!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi,

Avoid linking images if possible. If you already have linked images in your
presentation, PC users can use the free demo version of PPTools FixLinks Pro
to fix image links or embed the images so they won't break when the PPT file
and images are moved to another computer.

Read more about it on The PPTools Site or download it at
http://www.pptools.com/downloads.htm

I don't know if that will help you find them but it is worth a look.
