I am making a powerpoint for a project. it requires

high definition photos. the audio is Goldwave (set to DVD
quality). As i was working on my powerpoint, my computer
began displaying messages about the Virtual memory being
low. my powerpoint will not play. it takes a while to
load, and when it does the parts are staggered, delayed,
and overall messed up. i need this done tuesday, and dont
want to re-record everything. what can i do. please
help...
thanks,

Chris

Control Panel > System > "Advanced" Tab
In the "Performance" box click the Settings button
Click to the "Advanced" tab
In the Virtual mamory box click the Change button.
Here you have 2 choices:
1 Change the radio button so "System manager size" is selected
2 Change your Maximum size to at least 1000 if not more. Mines set to 2500
but I have 2 large HDD's

Recommended Virtual Memory should be set from Limited to High,
about 1 1/2 to 3 times your RAM - if RAM is 256, set it to 384 to 768
if RAM is 512 - change to 768 to 1536
Start/Control Panel/ System/Advanced tab/performance/settings button/
Advanced tab/tick Custom size/Virtual Memory/change button
Edit the change and click Set and OK

You are correct in that the first step in solving this problem should
be to increase the page file maximum.

However your statments that page file size should be related to some
multiple of the installed RAM are incorrect. Page file requirements
are actually inversely related to the amount of RAM in the computer.

More RAM means less page file and less RAM means more page file,
provided all other factors are held constant.

Windows creates the virtual memory page file to compensate for the
*lack* of sufficient physical RAM to meet the total memory address
space requirements of the computer.

Hope this clarifies the situation.

Good luck
