PPT 2008 (Mac) On Snow Leopard - Links DO NOT Package

Has anyone else run into this problem? I was under the impression that when
you save as a package the linked images would get saved to that same folder.

I seem to have the same issue with ppt 2007 on vista as well. It "packages"
but I don't actually see copies of the linked images in the folder. Are they
invisible? Am I missing something?

Yes, I am definitely ticking the "link" option in the insert file dialog box.
I also tried un-ticking "save with document" to ensure that it wasn't
linking AND embedding.
