ppt 2000 picture objects not appearing in ppt 2003 version

John Slee

I have set up a presentation using Powerpoint 2000 and the Slide Show
animates fine. When I run the same Slide Show on a laptop using
Powerpoint 2002 or 2003, the pictures which have been entered as
objects do not appear in the Slide Show. A picture in a picture frame
does appear. The object pictures do appear in preview / play, but not
in the View Show mode.

Any ideas?

PPT 2003 needs to have the "critical update" installed. This is a common
problem that should be cured when installed. Go to HELP >> CHECK FOR UPDATES
(must be on the internet) and install when prompted.

John, what type of picture objects are we talking about? Are these videos? I
ask because you say that they animate fine in PowerPoint 2000. What is the file
extension? What steps did you follow to insert these "pictures" in the
presentation?

The pictures are Browser screenshots using alt-"Print Screen" and then
Ctrl-V in
PPT. I originally entered them into the box saying Insert Object, but
since then have Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V and deleted the original. Still the
same problem with the new Picture frame: - they don't appear.

It's never a good idea to paste images in PowerPoint. Save them to hard disk
first and then insert them as Pictures from File. Try this on a couple as a
test and see whether they work betters.
